One of the highest points in Hull with Father David!

For those of you who might stumble upon this post but don't know much about me or this blog, my Father is the Vicar of St. James Sutton-on-Hull Church (see the website for this beautiful church by clicking here). On Saturday morning he took me up right to the top of the Church tower which is one of the highest points in Hull!

Here's a few snaps of the breath-taking view..

Firstly we had to go up a tiny spiral staircase all the way up to a floor. It was so small I barely fit in it.

After going up 3 ladders, we finally reached the top and after we climbed up onto the roof, this was the fantastic view that we saw.

 The Church Hall and Cemetery.

Right in the distance on the left past the huge chimney you can see The Humber Bridge.

On the way down the first set of ladders, my Dad tried to put the bell so that it would ring. Unfortunately, I think the bell was a little too heavy!

The set of bells.

A polaroid taken at the top. A little over-exposed because of the bright sunlight but still a great photo :)

We're home!!

So as a lot of you would probably guess by now if you follow me on twitter & Instagram or are even my friend on facebook- Dan and I returned to the UK from our trip on Friday!

It was a big big secret since none of Daniel's family knew- it was a complete surprise for them. My brother and much of my family also didn't know.

The last week in Hong Kong was both sad and lovely. It was sad to leave but it was also lovely to know we were returning to our comforts and to the English things that we enjoy!

Our return home has been a month in the making, sending a lot of boxes home shipped as we just had too much stuff, preparing tickets and sorting a lot of things out in Hong Kong to ensure our return home was straight-forward.

You can read our final blog post from HK by visiting our travel blog or by clicking the link below.

DID- Dialogue in the Dark, Hong Kong

Today Daniel and I experience 'Dialogue in the Dark'. We were taken through a series of every day scenes by someone who is visually impaired in complete darkness. We are taken around by a man named Jack. For 75 minutes we experienced the world in a completely different way. Such a fun, scary and humbling experience. First we went outside and learnt about our surroundings with trees, plants, soil, grass and sand, then we went on a boat trip with wind and rain. This was followed by visiting the town and local shops. Afterwards we travelled to a theatre and listened to some films and music as well as exchanging money to buy drinks in a bar. Doing everything in pitch black with nothing but your hearing, smell, taste and touch is more difficult than it seems. It was absolutely inspiring. You can visit their website here. I'd seriously recommend anyone to try this!

Parents!

If you follow mine and my partner's travel blog, you'd all know that my parents arrived on their holiday to visit Daniel and I over two weeks ago now.

I had to put this picture on my blog because I thought it was just so lovely. This was taken in Mong Kok Langham Place shopping centre where they currently have lots of Chinese New Year decorations. The displays are so beautiful. They really go all out to make these places look stunning.

Football Journalism : Matthew Barker

Yeah, I know you're thinking 'Why on earth are you putting this on your blog?' ... I couldn't be more clueless when it comes to football. The only thing I know when it comes to football is to always support your boyfriend's team. And cheer when he does.

ANYWAY!

Aside from all of that, my good friend Matthew Barker has started up a blog about English Football. He's just graduated from The University of Hull with a degree in 'English with Creative Writing'. Now, I may know squat about football, but I can appreciate a damn good bit of writing.

Below is a link to his blog, if you like what you see and what you read, you can follow it by simply clicking the '+follow' button and hey presto. You can also follow him on twitter.

His contact details are on his blog.... Gabrielbatistuta.wordpress.com

Give it a gander folks!

Christmas in Hong Kong 2012

The 25th December this year was far from any 25th December I've ever known. It was really strange. I was so far from home and so far from my family and home comforts.

Dan and I started the day by putting the yummy prepared turkey into the oven at 6am. We then started opening each others presents and having coffee and biscuits. My Dad held midnight mass at his church. Click here to see the website for St. James Sutton-On-Hull Church. Because we're 8 hours ahead, after they finished midnight mass, it was already 8-9 am in the morning for us so we had a Skype until 2am their time! It was so lovely :) I sent some presents over for them so they opened it to me on Skype otherwise it would have been late afternoon for us before we could Skype them because they needed sleep!

Dan and I cooked our turkey and watch Christmassy films. It was so cosy and romantic :)

Oir Cranberry infused turkey. Please note- It's not burnt! It's caramelised cranberries mmmMMmm.

Skype photo time!!

My lovely presents off Laura :)

Willow and Fluffy shared a Christmas kiss :)

And then Willow opened her presents :)

Sat at our table ready to eat our delicious food! Turkey for two!!

It's definitely been a Christmas to remember :)
